Office of Minority Health (OMH) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) issued National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health Care in December 2000.

Standards include:

• Culturally competent care
• Language access services
• Organizational supports
